The Prayers of the People (Holy Eucharist Rite I – BCP)
Open, O Lord, the eyes of all people to behold thy gracious 
hand in all thy works, that, rejoicing in thy whole creation, 
they may honor thee with their substance, and be faithful 
stewards of thy bounty.
​Before a new generation
Became a bright thought
Within creation’s dominion
Blessing their ardent families
An impassioned gratefulness held
Fiercely in time’s arched palms
Trusted without measure or means
Our kinfolk gathered together
As a body of faithful believers
To worship behind timber walls
Whitened with an intimate faith
An epiphany circling round
The promised years that vanish
Across pastoral landscapes loved
Adored beyond these viridian hills
Where a prairie wind brushes
Over the fluid sunlit wheat 
Whispering within azure skies
To transform an evening light
Where celestial forms curve caringly
Over our many seasons and spells
Past troubled rain drought cyclone ​
​How a voice calls forth to life
Treasured in the memory 
Of all things revealed and hidden
In the seen and unseen spaces
Of heaven resting in creation
Accepting here its lenience
And respite from weariness
As a lovingkindness granted
An attendance unassuming
Vivid as the moon’s complexion
An emergent compassion arising
A luminous wisdom long desired
And a novel consciousness 
Balanced in serene holiness
A presence known across ages
In our remembrance given 
Through grace hour by hour 
Heard as a silent chant
An angelic chorus intoned
Without chance or recess
We may not know 
We are even praying
